Iroquois Community School first grade students paired up with their eighth grade buddies for a few fun activities this week.

Wearing colors representing the Olympic Rings for spirit week, some of the pairs met in the cafeteria while other groups met in different classrooms.

In the cafeteria, the eighth graders asked their first grade buddies some questions, including their age, and what their favorite color, food, toy, animal and TV show was.

After getting to know their buddy a little better, the students made a tree out of construction paper.

The younger buddy first traced their arm and hand on a brown piece of construction paper to create the trunk and branches of the tree.

They then cut that out and glued it onto a different colored construction paper.

The pairs then chose their favorite colors and drew hearts on the paper, cutting them out to form the leaves of the tree.

On each of the hearts they wrote a message of kindness.

All of the students had a fun time meeting with their buddies and strengthening their connections with each other.
